The dance of the Bumble Bees’ is one of the most famous and popular Kebyar pieces. It reflects growing Balinese sensitivity to the expectations of Western
audiences.
It is a love duet, which tells the story of a female bumblebee, flying around a garden, who is spotted and courted by a male bumblebee. Tamulilingan is Balinese for bumblebee, and Olèg describes the swaying movement of grass in the wind, which emulates the unique oscillating flight of Balinese bumblebees.
